Mrs. California International® Pageant Details & Guidelines

WHAT IS MRS. CALIFORNIA INTERNATIONAL®?
The
International Pageant® system has been developed to showcase today’s married women, their accomplishments, and commitment to family and marriage. Women are finding this system to be an opportunity to work with their husbands and family to become positive role models. Mrs. International® was developed to have higher standards than other pageant systems. Each contestant has the opportunity to select a platform of her choice that she spends the year promoting. Husbands are a direct part of the show, escorting their wives in the Evening Gown competition, and the husband crowns his wife titleholder.

WHO CAN COMPETE?
Women 21 to 56 years old • Married at least six months • A resident of California

AREAS OF COMPETITION
Interview Competition — valued for 50% of the overall score [20 possible points]
Personal One-on-one Interviews [1 to 15 points]
Onstage Interview Question [1 to 5 points]

Fitness Wear Competition — valued for 15% of the overall score [1 to 10 points]

Fun Fashion Wear Competition — valued for 10% of the overall score [1 to 10 points]
Evening Gown Competition — valued for 25% of the overall score [1 to 10 points]

OPTIONAL COMPETITION
Photogenic — winner chosen by the Official Pageant Photographer

INTERVIEW COMPETITION

50% OF THE OVERALL SCORE [25 possible points]
PERSONAL ONE-ON-ONE INTERVIEWS: Personal interviews are 5 minutes with each official judge one-on-one [1 to 15 points]. 

PLATFORM PRESENTATION: Briefly introduce your platform on stage [1 to 5 points]. 


A professional business suit is the recommended attire. You are interviewing for the job of Mrs. California International titleholder. You are not going to a cocktail party, therefore, your look should be fresh for daytime, contemporary, stylized and age-appropriate. Your makeup should be light and your hairstyle should be cutting-edge and age-appropriate for today. Your jewelry should be kept to a minimum. Panty hose are optional.

FITNESS WEAR COMPETITION

25% OF THE OVERALL SCORE [1 to 10 points]
Fitness Wear includes an expressive, lively symmetry of form, walking, standing and general movement. White tennis shoes are required with this outfit. Contestants have the choice to wear the one piece unitard or two-piece fitness wear. FUN FASHION WEAR COMPETITION

25% OF THE OVERALL SCORE [1 to 10 points]
The Fun Fashion Wear presentation is a modeling segment of the competition. The delegate’s outfit should be something that she would wear to an upscale event, fashion show or New Year’s Eve Gala. This should reflect your personality and be something that shows off your flair for fashion and style.

EVENING GOWN COMPETITION

25% OF THE OVERALL SCORE [1 to 10 points]
A floor length evening gown of your own style and color should be worn. Judges will be instructed to look for sense of style, confidence, stage presence and carriage, how she wears the gown and not the gown itself, poise and grace. Your evening gown should be age-appropriate. This is the face and grace portion of the pageant.


For the ONSTAGE INTERVIEW you may wear your evening gown. This outfit will be used as competition wardrobe for the Top 10 Onstage Interviews. All contestants should be prepared with this outfit.

OPTIONAL PHOTOGENIC COMPETITION

WINNER CHOSEN BY THE OFFICIAL PAGEANT PHOTOGRAPHER
You will submit 2 photos AT CHECK-IN on Pageant weekend. The photos must be 5" x 7" or 8" x 10" and can be your choice of Color or B&W. Please clearly label the back of your photos with your name and title.

JUDGING GUIDELINES FOR MRS. CALIFORNIA INTERNATIONAL

Personal Interview Competition — valued for 50% of the overall score [20 possible points]

Personal One-on-one Interviews [1 to 15 points]

Fitness Wear Competition — valued for 15% of the overall score [1 to 10 points]

Fun Fashion Wear Competition — valued for 10% of the overall score [1 to 10 points]

Evening Gown Competition — valued for 25% of the overall score [1 to 10 points]

Onstage Interview Question — [1 to 5 points]

High and low scores are dropped in each category (Preliminary & Finals). Personal Interviews are 5 minutes with each judge, one-on-one. No political or religious questions allowed unless you bring the subject up yourself. Finals Night (Top 10 only) all Preliminary Scores are cleared. Onstage Interview Question will account for 50% of Interview Score. You will be asked a specific question in reference to your individual platform. Each contestant will have exactly 30 seconds to answer the question. A (1) point deduction will be taken for every second you go over the 30 seconds allowed.

Beginning 30 years ago, Mrs. International® was developed to have higher standards than other pageant systems. The focus behind Mrs. International® is to showcase women 21 to 56 years old, married at least six months and a resident of the state or a citizen of the country she represents. Each contestant competes in Interview Competition, which is valued for 50% of her overall score, Evening Gown, valued for 25% and Fitness Wear for 25%. Each contestant has the opportunity to select a platform of her choice that she spends the year promoting. Husbands are a direct part of the show, escorting their wives in the Evening Gown competition, and the husband crowns his wife titleholder
